Wisconsin Exchange Grants and Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

Many perspectives, one Wisconsin: The Wisconsin Exchange is a campuswide initiative to help viewpoint diversity thrive at UW–Madison, to model vigorous discourse and debate, and to strengthen our campus culture of civil dialogue.

As part of this effort, the Wisconsin Exchange will award five to 10 grants for innovative proposals — up to $10,000 for student-led projects and up to $50,000 for faculty- and staff-led projects.

A cross-disciplinary postdoctoral fellowship, focused on scholarly activities that invoke pluralism or consider multiple viewpoints, will be awarded in fall 2026.

Grant and Fellowship Opportunities

Grant Program

A grant program will provide funding, through a competitive application process, for initiatives that widen and deepen the presence of viewpoint diversity on campus and foster dialogue across differences.

Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The Wisconsin Exchange is creating a pluralism postdoctoral fellowship to begin in fall 2026. It will be cross-disciplinary and meant for those whose scholarship and teaching seek to understand or advance the practice of viewpoint diversity and pluralism. This could include work in the social sciences, humanities, public health, or another field altogether. A selection committee will be convened to ensure a range of viewpoints and academic disciplines.

Timeline: Applications open in January 2026; the initial cohort of fellows begins in fall 2026. Please check back for application details.
